Your Shopping Fund

Before your Shopping Experience, you’ll set up your YSS Shopping Fund.

Choose an amount you’re comfortable with. We’ll use your fund to purchase any gender-specific items you choose on the day, without revealing which option we’ve bought.

You can add more to your fund during the day if you need to, and any money left over will be refunded after your baby arrives.

Shopping Journey

Make a little more of your Shopping Experience with a planned route through some of Christchurch’s baby stores.

Before the day, we’ll talk about what you’re looking for and the stores you’d like to visit, then plan a route that makes the most of your time.

On the day, you browse and choose while we manage the gender-specific purchases.

Bring up to three guests.
If they’d like to shop for baby too, we can set up their own Shopping Fund at no additional fee for the day.

Stay in one location and browse several stores, or make a little more of the day and visit some of Christchurch’s baby stores.

One Stop Shopping

90 minutes | From $150

Choose one shopping destination where you can browse several stores without having to travel between them.

We’ll be there with you to manage any gender-specific purchases, so you can browse, choose and enjoy the day without finding out more than you want to know.

If they’d like to shop for baby too, we can set up their own Shopping Fund at no additional fee for the day.

We'll make sure your time is spent shopping, not working out where to go.

Before your Shopping Experience, we’ll talk about what you’d like to shop for, the stores you’d like to visit
and who you’re bringing along.

For One Stop Shopping, we’ll help you choose a destination with plenty to browse in one place.

For The Shopping Day, we’ll plan your route together, with enough time at each stop to browse without feeling rushed.

Shopping With Your People

Some things are simply more fun shared.

Bring your partner, Mum, best friend or whoever you’d love to have with you.
Your Shopping Experience includes you and up to three guests.

They’re welcome to simply enjoy the day with you, or shop for baby too. If they’d like to make gender-specific purchases, we can set up their own Shopping Fund at no additional fee for the day.

Anything neutral can be purchased and taken home as usual.
Anything that could reveal your baby’s gender will be purchased by YSS and kept safely out of sight until after your baby arrives.

On The Day

This is the easy part.

Meet us at your first stop and then simply enjoy shopping.

Browse, compare and choose the pieces you love. If something is gender-specific, show us the options and we’ll make the final selection and purchase it using your Shopping Fund.

Anything neutral can be purchased and taken home with you. Anything that could reveal your baby’s gender comes with us and stays with YSS until after your baby arrives.

A Few Questions You Might Have

  • Your Shopping Experience includes you plus up to three guests. Bring your partner, Mum, best friend — or whoever you'd love to share the experience with.

  • Absolutely. If any of your guests would like to shop for baby too, we can set up their own Shopping Fund at no additional fee for the day.

    Their purchases and balance will be kept separate from yours, so nothing they buy can give your surprise away.

    Guests who are simply coming along to enjoy the day don’t need a Shopping Fund at all.

  • Absolutely. If you find more than you expected, you can top up your Shopping Fund during the day.

    We’ll just need to confirm the funds have arrived before we can make the purchase.

  • Absolutely. Anything that won’t reveal your baby’s gender can be purchased by you and taken home as usual.

  • Absolutely. We’ll plan your Shopping Experience together beforehand.

    For One Stop Shopping, we’ll help you choose a destination with plenty of stores to browse. For The Shopping Day, we’ll plan a realistic route around the stores you’d most like to visit, taking travel and shopping time into account.

  • No problem. If it’s a gender-specific item you’d like to buy, YSS can purchase the correct option using your Shopping Fund.

    If it’s neutral, you can simply purchase it yourself and take it home.

  • Anything that could reveal your baby’s gender stays with YSS until after your baby arrives.

    Then we’ll arrange for your purchases to be returned to you.

  • Once your baby arrives, we’ll reconcile your Shopping Fund and refund any unused balance to you.

    We wait until after the birth so the remaining balance can’t accidentally give away your baby’s gender.
